Lots of stuff goes on in this shop, located in Lorette, Manitoba.

Primarily it's the building and repair of classic wood & canvas canoes, and the making of premium canoe paddles. I also do custom boat building, composite fabrication, and special projects. A growing passion of mine is the making of classical guitars, I'll post about that, too.

I want to be able to share with my clients the progress of their commissioned work. Later I started thinking that there might be other people who are interested in what goes on inside a wooden canoe shop operated by an artist and a recovering teacher.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by email, phone, or by post. My mailing address is:

My son has made progress on his DIY loudspeakers. They are fully assembled and tested.

Here they are with the stain and first coat of varnish. They sound better than any speakers I have ever had, by a long shot!

Fantastic loudspeaker system! Any further details available? Driver? Impedance? Update with more pictures? Thank you and kind regards, Carsten

These are the Saburo design. The driver is a Fostex. I don't remember the model number. They are great for home theater but are a little "shouty" or shrill in the high end for truly pleasant music listening. My own speakers are using Mark Audio Alpair 12 drivers and are in cabinets called the Mar-Ken 12, the octagon version. They are very enjoyable.
